Sept/2024 incident @Keystone Mall, Mall Security accuses patron of trespassing, Cops called

4 months after my incident, it happened AGAIN! Over-zealous Mall Security accuses patron (in mall food court) of trespassing, Cops called. See below Google Maps review of Keystone Mall

As pointed out earlier (negative experiences by Keystone Mall patrons, followed/harassed by Mall Security), this is part of a FAILED strategy by Simon Property Group (owner of Keystone Mall)

"weed-out lower socio-economic patrons ("undesirables"), to give Keystone Mall a high-end shopping-experience atmosphere"

with flagship *elite* dept store Saks Fifth Avenue, plus other high-end designer stores (Michael Kors, Gucci, Tory Burch, etc)

GET THIS:
In early April (mere 7 weeks before my experience, followed/harassment & arrest by Police), Saks Fifth Ave announced it'ss leaving in July..didn't renew release. They simply couldn't make $$ selling pricey-goods (by high-end clientele..doctors, lawyers, etc)

https://www.reddit.com/r/indianapolis/comments/1bw08e1/the_fashion_mall_at_keystone_to_close_highend/

Two things:

1) the strategy flat-out didn't work
converting a 70's mall (built in 1973) with limited-parking, into a modern high-end shopping experience. Complaints about store layout (inconvenient), parking snafus, etc

2) ALIENATING existing (non high-end) mall clients
Following/Harassing by Mall Security, even calling Police for trespassing charge!
^^^
REALLY BAD IDEA! Words travels fast, people quit on Keystone Mall, revenue falls, etc

DOUBLE GET THIS:
Emily Brown (founder/owner of Maren Made) was interviewed Oct 4/2024 by WISH-TV on her entrepreneurialism:

https://www.wishtv.com/lifestylelive/how-maren-made-grew-from-a-startup-to-a-thriving-fashion-business/

Yes, Maren Made was the vendor I patronized before being followed/harassed (then arrest by Police), was Maren Made.

Emily Brown *actually* told me over the phone, a month later (June 22):

"4 people called in about me [ complaints ]"

which I assume were Keystone Mall Security. Other mall patrons report being followed/shadowed by Mall Security.

Keystone Mall incident: Following/Harassment

It was after I left Maren Made store, that 2 Mall Security officers were standing outside -- who then followed me downstairs. The harassment ensured (false accusation of trespassing), followed with call to Police, then arrest for *trespassing*! With 2 bags of purchased merchandise -- $171.20 at Maren Made, $88 at Urban Outfitters.

^^^ How could this be trespassing, if I spent $425 worth of merchandise over 2 days??

This matches the *incredulous* statement by above mall go-er "M", trying to eat at food-court & being harassed by Mall Security (false accusation of "trespassing"), with police called

^^^ History Repeats Itself, "M" is the latest victim of the Keystone Mall Security (in collusion with Marion County PD) conspiracy -- "weed out" undesirables at Keystone Mall, to support a high-end mall experience (designer stores, with flagship Saks 5th Avenue)

You can include Maren Made (& young entrepreneur Emily Brown, Purdue Univ undergrad "Organizational Management" major) as a victim -- her company brand (& clientele) will take a hit..

She & other Keystone Mall victims could be plaintiffs in Class-Action lawsuit against Simon Property Group (owner of Keystone Mall), who is responsible for this ill-advised DISCRIMINATION/Profiling of customers..
