SPG owned malls (nationwide) have a DISCRIMINATION strategy targeting sectors
lower socio-economic (esp @Keystone Mall in Indianapolis), teens, Blacks/Latinos (RACISM!), etc
using aggressive Mall Security.

The mall near where I grew up did this a while ago.
I was over 18 at the time, but was irked by it.
My family to this day still actively avoids shopping there when possible.
We thought the ban was unfair to the teenagers. There were plenty of perfectly well behaved teenagers that got banned.
Didn't want to patronize stores that treated a subset of their customers that way.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a shortsighted move that's a good way to alienate your future customers. The vast majority of teens are good kids. However, if mall management makes them feel unwelcome, they're not going to come back.
When it comes to discussing why people don’t go to shopping malls anymore, I usually point to policies like this. The idea is that the malls have made their own bed, having invested so much time and effort towards making younger shoppers feel unwelcome in their facilities. And now that those younger shoppers are of prime shopping age, they’re taking their business elsewhere and leaving shopping malls behind. They like to blame online shopping for their declining fortunes, without ever considering that they may have played a significant role in driving their customers away with hostile policies such as that.
SPG wants Keystone Mall to be THE "luxury" high-end mall in Indianapolis. Abusive Mall Security has ALIENATED many customers sectors (blacks, lower socio-economic, etc):
