SPG (Simon Property Group), Glassdoor Negative Reviews on Management, Racism Bullying Yelling DYSFUNCTION

I spent ALL day Saturday (Dec 7/2024) reading SPG (Simon Property Group) Glassdoors reviews

https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Simon-Property-Group-Reviews-E2458.htm

TOXIC Upper/Middle/Lower Management -- BULLYING, Yelling, Cursing, Nepotism, practicing Racism (!!)

Cons
Bad management, favoritism, salary, poor training, lack of transparency, bullying and racism internally

Cons
The level of abuse from the EVP level is absolutely horrific. Childish, mean, bullying egotistical sorts are the only ones that can make it. The culture revolves around of cycles of verbal abuse. Intense attacks followed by a sort of honeymoon period are the only treatment you will experience. Also, if you are a woman or minority, don't waste your time. This is an old boys club of rich, white entitled men with a few token examples of women and minorities they keep around. If you get a chance to interview here, DON'T. DO. IT.

During my tenure with SPG, I saw MANY changes. Some were good and some were horrid. Simon is all about keeping its status as the largest REIT in the US. Senior leaders and execs, will step on anyone to get ahead. They have not handled COVID well. Leaving employees in limbo for months and eliminating an entire platform and leadership. It has become a “good old boy” network and it’s all about who you know or what your last name is. [ CEO David Simon is son of SPG founder Herbert Simon ]

Advice to Management

Get a clue! You have some major talent (or did) in the organization.

(General Manager):

No diversity in Senior Leadership, leaders disregard diversity and in some cases have allowed discrimination

...

 - The company would steal and sell your soul if it could do it for a profit

Keystone Mall incident: Simon Property Group (SPG), FAILED Upper Management, Abuse

Director of Marketing & Business Development:

This company is Fortune 500 in name only. it acts as a mom-and-pop shop under the guise of Fortune 500. The work environment is toxic, there is no room for improvement. Ceilings everywhere. There are people working in this company for 30 years, they won't change. And the company reacts stupidly to everything.

The GM's are toxic, no one checks on the property. My property GM hires their relatives to do some of the work and accepts favours from contractors but the company does not know this.

Denise, the RVP [ Regional Vice-President ]. Denise on the other hand bullies her GMs. She yells and screams at them. I feel for all the GMs. That woman is nasty, emotional and needs HR to address things but HR, how dare they touch an RVP

This company is terrrible.

Horrible Executive Management

Upper/executive management was unbearable

Add some diversity to the teams - especially upper management/executives are nearly all white men
